There has been a recent study in the USA into the effectiveness of applying a mineral sunscreen and then adding a foundation or moisturiser that contains a chemical sunscreen. It turns out that this isn't generally a good idea as they can react to each other and cause you to burn, even though you thought you were doubling up on protection.
